DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Diversity and Inclusion Commitment Statement:

The Junior League of Beaumont welcomes all women who value our Mission. We are committed to inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations and communities.

What is means to the JLB:

The year 2021 marks 75 years in which the Junior League of Beaumont has enriched the lives of the community members in the greater Beaumont area. Through the years, the area has been challenged by many obstacles, and through it all JLB members have overcome challenges to make a difference in the community through education, service to others and collective action. The JLB members will continue to fulfill their mission with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Recently, AJLI published the following statement:

The Association of Junior Leagues International condemns discrimination, racism, and racial injustice in our communities and in our Junior Leagues. Black women and other women of color have been systemically denied equity and inclusion in our economy, education, civic privileges, and responsibilities in the voluntary sector, including in The Junior League. As affirmed by our member Junior Leagues, we are accelerating our efforts to take action and advance definitive, measurable policies and practices that eliminate racism in our countries, our communities, and our Junior Leagues. When we do this, we unlock tremendous power for our communities and realize our vision of women around the world as catalysts for lasting change.

The JLB endeavors to lead by example to encourage change in our society and to identify common ground where the community can come together and celebrate differences. The JLB knows there is beauty in diversity and embraces the different perspectives within the community. The JLB is committed to partnering with other organizations which are working toward empowering underrepresented populations and seek to eliminating injustices. Diversity, equity and inclusion are an integral part of the JLB and the members will continue to champion for the good of the community.

Sincerely,

2021-2022 JLB Board of Directors
