President's Message

Mission Focused

Mission focused. The Junior League of Beaumont’s volunteers remain committed and mission-focused as we move into February of our league year. Some of our volunteers serve in roles to raise money for our projects - Main Street Market, Cookbook committee, and Resource Development. Some of our volunteers serve on the board or in other leadership and communication roles and may not get a chance to participate directly in actual project work. In an effort to bring our projects to our meetings and to remind and inspire all members to remain committed to our primary cause, this year we have highlighted each of our projects at a general meeting.

For our February general meeting, we excitedly look forward to highlighting our CASA project this year. This committee which is led by Chair Gina Crenshaw, focuses on assisting teens in the CPS system who are preparing to graduate. The committee assists these teens with college applications and other preparation needed to graduate from high school. Our JLB volunteers also host an etiquette dinner that provides mentoring opportunities for participating teens and the ability to have a nice meal and learn etiquette. Etiquette skills assist teens with college entrance and later job interview scenarios. We obviously hope that we in some way help participants to become more comfortable in these environments so that they can be successful. The Junior League of Beaumont is so proud of this project and honored to serve our community and local teens in need.

So to all members, I encourage you to stay mission-focused. Remember these teens in need as you go about your fundraising and committee work. They are, simply put, WHY we do what we do. We volunteer to complete one mission - to make a positive difference in this community. Stay the course. Remain mission-focused. It is my honor to serve with each of you to pursue this worthy cause. Our kids in this community deserve it.
